Atomos was founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 2010 and has since made a name as an innovator in the field of video recording and display technology.
Atomos has been a pioneer in video technology for over a decade, specialising in products that offer filmmakers maximum flexibility and quality. Atomos' core expertise lies in its HDR monitor recorders, which can record uncompressed material directly from the camera sensor. These devices are equipped with Apple ProRes and DNxHR and enable recordings in formats of up to 8K.
Since the beginning, Atomos has consistently developed and launched innovative products such as the Shogun and Ninja, which are known for their outstanding performance and reliability.
Product range
Ninja - The ‘Ninja’ range (including Ninja and Ninja Ultra) offers compact 5-inch HDR monitor recorders that enable recording in 4K and in some cases up to 8K. The Ninja Ultra also supports dual recording formats (ProRes RAW and H.265) and cloud functionality to seamlessly work from the camera to the cloud.
Shogun – With a bright 7-inch screen and integrated network capability, the Shogun series stands out. Models such as the Shogun Ultra offer up to 2000 nits of brightness and 8K recording options, making them ideal for demanding film and cinema productions.

Shinobi – The Shinobi range offers monitors only and is ideal for those looking for precise monitoring without the recording function. The Shinobi 7 offers additional SDI support and is suitable for bright environments and demanding settings.
Sumo 19SE and Shogun Studio 2 – Designed for studio and broadcast applications, the Sumo 19SE and Shogun Studio 2 combine recording, monitoring and switching functions. They offer high flexibility with multiple inputs and the ability for simultaneous multi-channel recording, making them ideal for live productions and large events.
Cloud integration and collaboration
With Atomos Connect and Atomos Cloud Studio, Atomos offers comprehensive options for cloud-based collaboration. The Connect extension modules bring Wi-Fi 6, NDI, Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth capabilities to the devices and enable workflows such as Camera to Cloud, RemoteView and Live Production. Through platforms such as AdobeFrame.ioand Sony Ci Media, content can be shared and edited in real time, which saves valuable time, especially for international productions.
Synchronisation and production solutions
Atomos' UltraSync products ensure seamless synchronisation of audio and video. With UltraSync BLUE and UltraSync ONE, cameras, recorders and audio devices can be synchronised wirelessly and with high precision, ensuring a perfect match between the different media in post-production.
A unique highlight in the company's history was the stock market flotation in 2018, which gave Atomos additional drive to develop world-leading technologies for the creative industry and set new standards for quality and workflow optimization.
