DZOFILM X-TRACT 18-28mm T.8 FF 90° Probe Macro Zoom Lens
Art.Nr. DZO-X1828BX-Tract Probe Macro Zoom Lens 18-28mm T.8 with 90° front lens
Unprecedented Vision with Probe Zoom
The X-tract 18-28mm T8 wide-angle probe zoom lens redefines macro cinematography with interchangeable 0° (direct view) and 90° (right-angle) front modules, offering versatile shooting perspectives and boundless creative potential. Designed for full-frame, it is fully compatible with S35 formats, providing an equivalent 22-35mm T8 range in Arri Alexa 35 Open Gate mode, ideal for commercial filmmaking. The detachable front module design allows seamless switching between direct-view and right-angle setups, enabling easy focal and angle adjustments even in confined spaces. This adaptability enhances spatial depth and layering in visuals, offering filmmakers greater flexibility for creative storytelling.
Flexible Switching, Full Macro Perspective
The interchangeable front module offers 0° (direct view) and 90° (right-angle) options, covering 95% of probe lens shooting angles. The 90° tube features a 360° rotating ring for flexible horizontal adjustments, while the right-angle design enhances camera movement flexibility and framing options, unlocking endless macro creativity with adjustable focal lengths.
As the first T8 90° probe lens, it incorporates a newly designed square front element to improve the RI (relative illumination) and reduce light loss. The simplified prism structure and PET silver-coated reflective layer enhance reflectivity, ensuring a constant T8 aperture and consistent brightness across all focal lengths.
Note: Images captured with the 90° angle lens require mirror correction.
Cine-standard Crafts, Precise and Reliable
The 90° right-angle probe lens features a 360° rotating ring, ensuring seamless compatibility with professional cinema equipment and accessories. The rotating ring allows for easy adjustment of the lens angle, enabling quick correction of the frame's horizontal alignment to ensure precise composition. With a 28cm water immersion depth, dual-sided hydrophobic coated UV filter, and O-type quick-release clamp, the lens ensures stability and versatility during challenging shoots. High-precision accessories, including a detachable lens front and clamp, enable easy customization and rapid angle adjustments,Optional follow-focus accessories effectively resolve focus tracking issues during rotation. Clear markings for magnification ratio, waterproof lines, and rotation scales on the lens body further improve usability, offering filmmakers a seamless and intuitive shooting experience.
More Dimensions, Greater Creativity
The combination of prism structure and 360° rotating ring, offering an additional dimension for creative adjustments and providing a more immersive macro experience. The entire series features a smooth 300° focus throw, tested for high-frequency durability and micron-level assembly precision, enabling precise focus shifts and more flexible depth of field control. The X-tract lenses feature a par-focal design, locking the focus during zooming. Whether capturing subtle movements or quickly changing focal lengths, the focus remains sharp, delivering the classic Hitchcock dolly zoom effect even in macro shooting.
Unmatched Performance Beyond Primes
The X-tract series features native breath control, reducing breathing effects to just 0.5% at the 24mm (compared to 39.2% in other 24mm probe primes). The focus breathing becomes virtually imperceptible, minimizing the need for post-production adjustments. This ensures seamless visual continuity and stability during focus shifts, delivering immersive and spectacular cinematic visuals. The X-tract 0° probe zoom maintains a relative illumination of 70.7%, while the 90° probe zoom offers 68.6% (compared to 54.9% in other 24mm probe primes), ensuring consistent brightness and delivering professional-grade visual performance.
Agile and Flexible, Fully Controllable.
Weighing only 1.09–1.13kg and measuring approximately 41.5–42.1cm in length, the lens features a slim design for seamless operation in tight spaces such as book pages or miniature models. The A lens has a 29.6mm front diameter, while the B lens uses 37.7×30.58mm square filters. Compared to bulky macro setups, this slim tube design offers superior flexibility and adaptability. The rear-heavy design shifts the lens' balance closer to the camera body, making it easier to maintain stability whether handheld or with stabilizer use, reducing shake and enabling precise focus and zoom adjustments. When used with sliders or robotic arms for large-range movements, it offers superior control precision, minimizing post-production adjustments.
Note: Images captured with the 90° angle lens require mirror correction.
